Description:
In and out of the Student Council, Saionji is in love with the Rose Bride, and supposedly Touga's best friend. He is used as a catalyst for several major events, the beginning of Utena's being engaged to Anthy, Wakaba's duel, and the beginning of the Akio Arc. His melodramatic ways make him the butt of much comic relief in the show. (Though not as much as Nanami.)

GOD, people give this poor guy a BREAK! Saionji isn't the greatest guy in the world. But he's hardly as bad as you people make him out to be...you know...*JURI* smacks Anthy, too!!! I think Saionji's hostile nature is the result of several possible influences on him.
Saionji suffers from an inferiority complex built on a childhood in his "best friend's" shadow. He wants attention, and smacking people upside the head is the best way he knows how to get it. The more he wants attention, the more he smacks people around.
Saionji is the most perceptive of the duelists (and/or manipulated people) as he is the first to figure things out, and his behavior shows a person who knows *exactly* what is going on, but doesn't want to admit it, even to himself. His intuitive awareness of the way things are is covered by so much denial and emotion about the situation that his actions are reflective of a person who didn't know what was going on. (Like the other duelists.) However, his attitude about things, the way he behaves while doing the things he does, is very much testament to this knowledge.
The prime example of this is his treatment of Anthy. Like a duelist, he wants to possess her, and his actions reflect that he thinks he can do that. However, he knows he can't....in fact...he knows she's above him. He takes this unconfirmed bitterness out on her by his consistant abuse, which he takes as perfectly normal behavior....since it's his priviledge as the engaged. He revels in what he, deep inside, knows is a false dominance.

Don't sue me for anything on this page... I'm just a fangirl of Touga... and this page is just for my friend who happens to be a fangirl of Saionji
